Make a Real Difference Every Day
Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers and achieve their potential? Do you thrive in a role where you can build meaningful relationships and truly change lives?
We’re looking for a dedicated and resilient Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our Extended Provision Unit (EPU); a specialist, nurturing environment where every day brings the opportunity to make a real impact. The EPU supports pupils with additional needs, including social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges. This is a rewarding and varied role where you’ll play a key part in helping students re-engage with learning, build confidence and develop the skills they need to succeed, both in and out of the classroom.
Your Impact
In this role, you’ll take the lead in delivering engaging, targeted learning and supporting pupils’ personal development. From leading lessons to supporting behaviour and wellbeing, you’ll be central to creating a safe, positive and structured environment where students can thrive. You will plan and deliver tailored learning activities for individuals and small groups, lead lessons when required to ensure continuity, and work closely with teaching staff to adapt learning and interventions to meet individual needs. Alongside this, you’ll monitor progress, provide feedback, contribute to personalised support plans, and use effective behaviour strategies to help pupils stay engaged and motivated. Building strong, trusting relationships will be key to your success in this role.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who brings both skill and heart to the role. You will:
- Have HLTA status (or equivalent experience)
- Bring experience of working with pupils with additional needs, particularly SEMH
- Be confident leading learning and adapting to individual needs
- Demonstrate strong behaviour management skills with a calm, resilient approach
- Build positive relationships and act as a consistent, supportive role model
- Be committed to inclusion, safeguarding and supporting pupil wellbeing
